- The Baluchari silk originated from the Baluchar village of Murshidabad district of West Bengal. The Baluchari saree embroideries carry small and intricate details of the snippets from Indian mythologies like Mahabharata, Ramayana, etc. on the pallu. - Before the historical Partition of Bengal into two, the Jamdani sarees were made in the city of Dhaka. Bengal of India even now creates magical Dhakai Jamdani sarees with the help of the weavers whose ancestors hailed from Bangladesh and settled in India later. The design of the saree is known popularly as Jamdani. This means a significant print or designs which are created on the material of the saree. These sarees are made from the combination of cotton and silk threads.
- The Murshidabad silk, by its very name, suggests that they hail from the Murshidabad district of West Bengal. These sarees are airy, and light and the prints are batik prints.
